#261 Gary Klein- Deconstructing How Experts Make Decisions

What Got You There with Sean DeLaney

NOTE

Intuitiion and associative thinking

Decision-making involves two main processes: intuition and evaluation. Intuition relies on associations and learned patterns to quickly assess situations, identify what's important, form expectations, and determine potential courses of action. However, intuition should not be blindly trusted as it can be prone to biases and inaccuracies. The second part of decision-making involves evaluating intuition by mentally simulating the potential outcomes of a chosen course of action. By comparing these mental simulations to different options, individuals can assess the validity and effectiveness of their intuition before making a final decision.
