NOTE

Tradeoff evolutivo entre flexibilidad y innatez: El ejemplo de las vocalizaciones.

Human evolution has led to a tradeoff between flexibility and innate characteristics in vocalizations. While chimpanzees have a wide range of distinct vocalizations that are innate and cover various aspects of their lives, humans have a surprisingly small repertoire of innate vocalizations that have degraded over time. This degradation is due to the dominance of linguistic communication taking over. However, human vocalizations still carry prosodic features like speed and frequency changes, which are also seen in primate calls. The emotional and autonomic aspects of vocalizations have been subordinated to language, allowing for a more sophisticated and adaptable use of vocal expressions.
