NOTE

The Turing trap: why imitating humans with technology is wrong

Closing the gap between humans and technology requires speeding up our adaptation rather than slowing down technology. To achieve this, we should invest more in education and focus on creativity and asking the right questions, rather than relying on machines for routine tasks. Technologists should not aim to create AI that is indistinguishable from humans, as this tends to drive down wages. Instead, machines should be designed to complement humans and enable us to do new things. Managers and entrepreneurs should not simply look to replace workers with technology, but should explore new ways of using technology to deliver products and services. Pursuing these paths will lead to increased total output, more broadly shared prosperity, and a brighter future.
