Is the WordPress Market Share Declining and What to do about it?

Reviving Excitement in the WordPress Ecosystem
The WordPress ecosystem is currently lacking the excitement that initially fueled its growth. Historically, WordPress distinguished itself with its user-friendly five-step installation process, a rich ecosystem of plugins, and vibrant community events like WordCamps, which generated enthusiasm among users and helped build a thriving platform. However, recent developments in WordPress appear to be merely incremental tweaks, leading to a stagnation in innovation and excitement. This decline in fervor not only impacts seasoned users but also poses a risk of alienating newcomers. In contrast to the SaaS industry, where continuous improvement and aggressive growth strategies are the norm, WordPress risks complacency, embracing a 'we're fine' mentality that could result in losing market share. Additionally, the lack of a strong marketing strategy has left WordPress vulnerable to competition from other platforms that aggressively promote their products. A proposal for a marketing consortium involving major players in the WordPress industry is suggested to collectively promote WordPress, leveraging shared marketing expertise to reignite enthusiasm and boost its visibility in a crowded market. Without a concerted focus on reinvigorating excitement and a robust marketing approach, WordPress may face further decline in its relevance and market dominance.
