Effects of Gravity on Celestial Objects in Space

Even if two celestial objects are completely relative to each other and do not accelerate toward each other due to gravity, they still feel each other's gravitational effects. This is because each object distorts space-time around it, and even if they are stationary with respect to one another, they still feel the distortions. The only way for them to not feel each other's gravity is if they had no gravity at all. Mass influences the curvature of space-time, which in turn affects the motion of mass, as explained by John Archibald Wheeler.
