In machine learning, the data matters. It doe ters more than almost anything. And not everything, but almost anything. As a result, you have to live with the data and don't get distracted by the algarithm. The only way to learn, really understand, is to code them up. I think that that focus on the data and what it can tell you is a key and important thing about machine learning.
