Dan Carlin's Hardcore History: Addendum

NOTE

The Nomads of the Eurasian Steppe and their Connective Role in History

The concept of nations being like a womb that continuously produces people is fascinating. The Mongol conquest, for example, involved fighting Teutonic Knights in the West and the Japanese in the East, both unaware of each other. This challenges the view that settled societies with cities and writing were the only important ones. The nomads of the Eurasian steppe, with their Silk Road trade, spread of ideas, and cultural connections, created intellectual and physical connections between cultures that had no direct contact. It's truly remarkable.
