Embrace Doubt as a Path to Enlightenment
Doubt and deconstruction are often viewed through polarized lenses: negatively by conservative theology and positively, yet almost as a requirement, by liberal theology. This duality suggests that while doubt should not be demonized, it also must not be overly valorized. Instead, a balanced approach is needed—recognizing deconstruction as a valuable part of the faith journey without glorifying it. Reconstruction, or returning to faith through a renewed perspective, represents a profound and beautiful transformation. This process, akin to Paul Ricœur's concept of second naïveté, allows individuals to re-engage with their original beliefs with fresh insight after experiencing doubt and struggle.
