Beware of Over-Simplification in Social Movements

Reducing complex societal contradictions to overly simplistic terms, like the 99% versus the 1%, may gather momentum for a social movement but can also hinder its progress. Oversimplification overlooks the diverse interests within the majority group, making it challenging to form a cohesive strategy for change. Movements resulting from such reductionism lack a solid foundation and end up as spontaneous protests without a clear direction for achieving real change.
