Third and lastly metaphysics the study of being and of universal properties related to being the transcendental like unity, truth and goodness. And Aquinas will argue elsewhere I would say beauty. Now we might ask immediately how realistic is this schema. For example where are the observational natural sciences such as today we would see exemplified in the modern natural scientific study of biology, chemistry or physics which our world takes for granted as gold standard sciences. Actually Aquinas is well aware of observational sciences which existed in less developed form in his own day but
