The Importance of Noticeable Productivity Leaps and the Zone of Benefit
To make a noticeable difference and provide enough value for people to switch, a product needs to either significantly reduce workflow or provide superpowers to users. However, a 20% improvement is often not noticeable to people. For a product to truly make a difference, it needs to be at least two or three times better than the current solution. Economic theory suggests that people work to afford leisure, so for them to notice a product, it needs to accelerate their productivity by three times. In order to meet the zone of benefit, a product should make users feel three times more productive, allowing them to save time and complete tasks faster.
