NOTE

The Progression of a Solar Eclipse

All solar eclipses start as a partial eclipse, with the moon gradually covering the sun, leading to changes in the environment such as a temperature drop, a chill in the air, and dimming daylight. As the eclipse nears totality, animals and plants react to the diminishing sunlight by performing evening rituals and closing up. The effects escalate rapidly, with temperature and light dropping quickly. Just before the total eclipse, shadow bands can be observed as ripples racing across the ground.
