Creating intelligence on a computer has been the Holy Grail of artificial intelligence. To achieve this, we can study our own brains, but capturing the human brain on a computer is currently too big and complex of a problem. However, by starting smaller with insects like dung beetles, Sahara Desert Ants, and dragonflies, neuroscientists can understand how animal nervous systems solve specific problems. By studying brains, we can bring the best solutions biology has to offer to computers.
