ReThinking

NOTE

Reframing Emotions

Our brains constantly interpret the sensory information coming from our bodies. In Western societies, high arousal is often automatically interpreted as anxiety, leading to certain actions like withdrawal. By deconstructing anxiety into its basic components, we gain the freedom to be curious about its causes and choose our responses. This ability to forage for information and assess the meaningful consequences of sensory signals lets us ignore irrelevant stimuli. Additionally, our brains can ignore the sensory consequences of our movements, focusing only on the information that is consequential for action.
