The Salem Witch Trials are a historical event that raises questions about censorship and the preservation of history. In modern times, the idea of erasing a year-long event like the trials would be considered absurd. The Danvers archival center holds valuable historical records related to the trials, including documents saved by historian Richard Trask. Trask, a descendant of victims, rescued important artifacts such as the original communion items and two significant logbooks from a church fire in the 1970s. One logbook detailed the activities of the church, including the excommunication of individuals, while the other served as a diary for the ministers, documenting events and transitions in leadership.
