Data collection practices have morfed over the years. Bigger and bigger data sets, where size matters a lot more than quality. This also relates to the fact that when we communicate on line, our data can be technically owned by the platform. And so even people who are creating really relevant data, and this can be called data labor, essentially creating the content themselves, they don't end up having as many rights to that actual data.
