NOTE

Theological Insights on Worship: Shifting Focus from Self to God

Worship should not revolve around human emotions or the desire for personal breakthroughs; instead, it should focus on glorifying God’s character and nature. The notion that worship begins with feeling loved by God is inverted. While recognizing that God loves us is foundational, true worship involves understanding our purpose on earth, which is to magnify God rather than seeking His adoration. Emotions can be fleeting and unreliable, leading to an exhausting worship experience if they dictate our approach. A more stable worship practice arises from acknowledging who we are in Christ and focusing on God as revealed in Scripture. This shift from self to God fosters a transformational alignment of the mind with His desires, promoting consistent, truth-based worship irrespective of emotional states. This approach allows individuals to worship in spirit and truth, leading to emotional upliftment not as an aim, but often as a result of this intentional focus on God.
