Fungal Predation: From Wood Rot to Hunting Nematodes
Fungi can be predatory in various ways. Some fungi, like wood rotting fungus, prey on blocks of wood and consolidate connections with the wood. Nematode worms are hunted by other fungi through eavesdropping on their chemical signals or by using lures like nooses or poisonous droplets. Oyster mushrooms, while enjoyable to eat, can also produce stalks with poisonous droplets to attract nematodes.
