Advancements in Enabling Doctors to Ask Research Questions During Care
The average doctor at UCSF may soon be able to inquire about research questions during patient care. Solutions like spin-out companies and initiatives by Stanford and Epic are developing tools to help doctors evaluate patients and determine treatments for similar cases without definitive evidence. Despite the importance of randomized controlled trials, many medical decisions are made without specific RCT data. Efforts are underway to assist doctors in accessing data on how similar patients were treated, with Epic also working on features to enable this capability.
