Breaking the Cycle of Mediocrity

Growing up in a family surrounded by low standards and mediocrity, the speaker's identity was shaped by the lack of money, family dynamics, and limited opportunities. Until the age of 18, the speaker never aspired for something bigger, with his priorities set on getting a job and staying out of trouble. A turning point came when a tornado destroyed his high school, leading to him passing based on the decision to let students with passing grades pass. This event made the speaker realize the absence of standards in his life and marked the beginning of a journey towards breaking the cycle of mediocrity and aiming for more.
