The belief in returning to a mythic past where no problems exist fuels anger and frustration because it is unachievable. Right-wing leaders, when in power, become more authoritarian as they fail to fulfill unattainable promises, leading followers to feel a sense of lack and anger. This cycle exacerbates as leaders like Netanyahu point blame at others for their failures and crimes. Fascist leaders create a cult of personality where all power and meaning stem from them, not the law.
