In jiu-jitsu, controlling the distance is crucial for dominating the fight. An inexperienced fighter often stands too close, making them vulnerable to strikes. Conversely, experienced fighters either increase the distance to stay out of striking range or get very close to neutralize the opponent's strength. This principle applies to leadership as well: in offense, one should close the distance while in defense, maintaining space is key. Effective leaders understand and implement the importance of distance management in their interactions.
