NOTE

The Effects of Deliberate Cold Exposure on Metabolism and Brown Fat

Deliberate cold exposure leads to long term changes in the body. Studies have shown that it increases the levels of catacolamines, dopamine, nor epinephrine, and epinephrine for many hours after exposure. Other changes at the level of metabolism and brown fat include activation and adaptation of brown fat, increased activation of mitochondria in brown fat cells, improved constriction of capillaries in the skin, reduced stress response over time, increased metabolism and insulin sensitivity, lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, and improved glucose balance. These long term outcomes can help improve overall health and prevent lifestyle diseases.
