When considering risks in your career path, first clarify the realistic worst-case scenario. Often, the worst scenario is not as bad as initially thought. Pay attention to risks that could permanently affect your happiness or career capital. Second, look for ways to mitigate serious risks to ensure they do not happen. Third, develop a plan to cope if the worst-case scenario does occur. Lastly, if the risks are still unacceptable, consider changing your plan. Going through these exercises makes risk less intimidating and better equips you to handle challenges.
