Compensation Structure and Equity Allocation Insights
Compensation restructuring is suggested to allocate equity to individuals properly; Elon and Sam should receive their equity in the for-profit entity. It is deemed convoluted that Sam has no equity but has access to corporate opportunities as compensation. The recommendation is for the corporation to own opportunities instead of providing them as compensation. While Sam does not have equity, he retains the option to monetize the ecosystem around. The board seems okay with this arrangement as Sam is perceived to be undercompensated. However, it is argued that the compensation structure should be more straightforward. Bill Gates emphasized the value of an ecosystem surpassing that of a platform. It is proposed that in revolutionary cases, owning a portion of the ecosystem might be more valuable than direct equity in an entity like Open AI, potentially worth trillions of dollars.
