NOTE

Bringing Together Indigenous Knowledge With Science

We did a philogenetic study, which is essentially we captured dn sequences for a few hundred genes from some of our samples. And what we saw in the tree is that there were these two lineages, and they corresponded exactly to the ibon and the dusom names to this wild tree. And the cultivated one. So elliot ida juger and mister salan classified a new species, well new to science. But it was bringing together all of their different knowledge that was key. It makes the work more interesting by looking at another angle where we really put the indigenous knowledge in place with science.
