Caring for something can be done objectively by holding it at arm's length and offering care, whereas being attached to something means it becomes a part of you. There lies a fine line between not caring for something and not being attached to it. When it comes to work, one can care about it, but if work is the sole source of one's value and identity, it signifies an unhealthy attachment.
