Building a Platform and Then an Application on It: Snowflake and Databricks
There are six aspects to a platform - technical and business. Building on a platform allows for distribution and user engagement. While different platforms may have similar programming languages, their underlying capabilities make them unique. Snowflake is building a platform with enhanced capabilities and reduced latency. Replicating these features may be difficult for other data warehouses. The future of the platform is uncertain, but it is expected to be impactful.
