Importance of Social Connections

The process of individuation, as described by Carl Jung, can only be achieved through connections with others. Being socially isolated can lead to alienation and a futile search for community in the state. Lack of social connections can result in a meaningless life, pushing individuals towards state slavery. Totalitarianism, as noted by Nisbet, thrives on nihilism but always has a positive goal driving powerful social movements.
