The Body's Innate Capacity to Conserve Energy

The body, including the brain and muscles, instinctively conserves energy due to evolution when uncertain food supply was prevalent. The brain doesn't keep tabs on its energy stores but gauges fatigue by counting metabolized byproducts. Fatigue sets in before muscles reach their limit, prompting the body to conserve energy even when capability for maximal effort still exists.
