NOTE

Four Factors of Meaning in Life

Individuals derive meaning in life from a narrative structure that guides them towards a purpose, a nomological structure that provides a sense of rules and coherence in the world, a normative structure that allows for self-transcendence and growth, and the experience of being in a flow state where they feel connected to their environment. While purpose is one of the factors, it is not synonymous with nor the most critical aspect of meaning in life. Coherence, self-transcendence, and connection are also essential for experiencing a meaningful life.
