Could a rule of life, as described in Augustine's The City of God, hold the key? Augustine wrote during a time of great fear after the fall of Rome, and his ideas inspired the monastic movement. Today, some see similarities between the state of the West and the decline of the Roman Empire. While uncertain about the West's future, I hope for a better outcome.
