NOTE

Dopamine and Productivity

Dopamine in our brain, particularly in the nucleus accumbens, provides pleasure and reinforces behavior. High dopamine levels in the morning drive productivity, with delayed gratification leading to a strong dopamine release upon reward. Using technology before engaging in work depletes dopamine levels, resulting in reduced pleasure even if the same amount of work is completed. Dopamine in the brain can be likened to a lemon full of juice, where initially a small squeeze yields a lot of juice, but with continued depletion, more effort is needed for less reward.
