Utilizing Open Source Intelligence for Special Forces Support
The intelligence community has extensive experience in providing counter-terrorism support over the past 20 years. However, the utilization of open source intelligence for this purpose is relatively new. In the context of the Ukraine crisis, it was observed that while open source intelligence is valuable, there are limitations such as misinformation and disinformation. Agility and timeliness in utilizing open source intelligence to support special forces are still in a nascent stage, highlighting the importance of understanding both the benefits and limitations of open source intelligence for specialized operations.
