Unity in Creedal Heritage Among Protestants and Eastern Orthodox Christians

The Apostles Nicene and Athanasian creeds were endorsed in various Protestant confessions, emphasizing a significant unity in creedal heritage between Protestants and Eastern Orthodox Christians. While early Protestants sought reform in the church for pastoral abuse and doctrinal issues, they upheld the foundational doctrines of God shared with Eastern Orthodox Christians. Both traditions value the creedal foundation from the early ecumenical councils. However, a point of contention arises on the filioque doctrine, where Protestants generally align with the Western position without assigning the same level of importance as pre-Reformation times.
