102. Psychology is overrated

Education Bookcast

NOTE

The Attem pt to Understand the Book "The Catcher in the Rye"

There are some important reasons why that book is terrible./nI talk about it in detail on that episode./nIt's quite a while ago./nI don't know, a good 50 plus, maybe 60 episodes ago./nAnd actually at that time I don't think I hammered that guy hard enough./nI don't think I laid into him enough because the book is terrible./nThroughout the episode, I'm trying to talk about how, oh, well, maybe there's something good here somehow. You know, maybe we can get some kind of information out of it, but it's just really bad./nSo I should have laid into it more, but this is partly a thing you learn with experience. You learn who deserves what and you learn, you know, what kinds of places you should, you know, what it means to be fair in some extent, to some extent. You learn, for example, that, you know, in some cases you have got to hold back from some sort of biases that you have. But in other cases, you have to realize actually there is really nothing good on offer here./nAnd it deserves heavy criticism.
