Challenges in Generating Influence Beyond the Mormon Community

The modern lack of influential Mormon apostles and leaders is a source of frustration and perplexity for some, leading to a desire for more prominent figures to emerge from the quorum of the Twelve and the First Presidency. There is a yearning for Mormon leaders to have a greater impact beyond the walls of Zion and to be taken more seriously by the world. The speaker believes that it is the responsibility of Mormonism to produce something that resonates beyond its community in order to gain the attention and respect of the world. The current perception is that what Mormonism produces does not have a significant effect beyond its own boundaries, and is not widely influential outside the Mormon community.
