The Challenges and Disappointments of the 1919 Peace Conference

The aftermath of the Great War and various global crises made it impossible for the peace conference of 1919 to satisfy everyone. With the world in turmoil, diseases spreading, and political unrest, the task of reconstructing a stable world proved too challenging. Complications arose as the Japanese, Chinese, and Italians expressed their discontent with the terms of the treaty. The Allied powers were determined to reach a conclusion to prevent the further deterioration of the situation. However, the eventual outcome was widely seen as a major letdown. Even with Maynard Keynes as a guide, settling the world in 1919 proved to be an insurmountable task.
