NOTE

How we can respond to stress

Our bodies are not designed to be under constant stress, as it prevents our parasympathetic nervous system from engaging in vital functions like rest and digestion. While short bursts of stress can enhance our capabilities, prolonged stress can have detrimental effects on our health. When a stressful event occurs, cortisol is released for a 90-second period, after which it should naturally be flushed out. If stress persists beyond this timeframe, it is because we are perpetuating it by triggering another 90-second cycle.
