NOTE

The Dual Nature of Brain Hemispheres

The brain is traditionally divided into two hemispheres, with key differences being that it is divided at all, asymmetrical, and contains a band of fibers. The corpus callosum, unique to mammals, inhibits communication between the hemispheres. The left hemisphere focuses on narrow, focused attention, while the right hemisphere observes the big picture. These differing focuses lead to two different versions of reality held by each hemisphere, influencing what comes to our attention.
