The biggest contributor to environ mental degradation isn't industrial development, it's absolute bloody poverty and privation. As soon as you make people rich, the data on this are crystal clear,. Soon as you get people up to about five thousand dollars a year in gross domestic product, they start carrying about the environment locally and autonomously. And so, you know, we're in a situation right now where, if our leaders weren't so concerned with coring cheap reputation points... We cold be working towards a world where everybody had enough food and enough education.
