#312 — The Trouble with AI
Making Sense with Sam Harris
Expressive Power in Learning Concepts
In computer science, the concept of expressive power is crucial. When circuits fail to represent complex concepts effectively, it leads to confusion in machine learning tasks. Using inexpressive representations makes concepts overly complicated, requiring billions of experiences to grasp. Simply increasing data or building larger circuits to compensate for this inadequacy is not a scalable solution, as the universe does not possess the amount of data required for such intricate learning.
