Addressing Additional Stressors in College Admissions

Colleges should reach out to incoming students, especially those without support networks, to ensure their well-being. It's crucial for institutions to support students of color at predominantly white institutions by establishing connections. Moreover, there is a call for increased investment in higher education at the state and federal level. Even if the FAFSA process is streamlined, many low-income students still lack adequate financial aid, leading to significant student loan debt. This creates an additional stressor for students as they watch their debt accumulate while in school. Efforts need to focus on making college more affordable to alleviate the financial burden and help students navigate the challenges they face.
