Making Sense with Sam Harris

NOTE

The Objective vs Subjective Perspective in Evaluating the Value of a Life

There are two perspectives to evaluate the value of a life: the objective perspective and the subjective perspective. The objective perspective focuses on the existence and calculates the value of a life based on the area under the curve, encompassing all temporal stages. This perspective does not consider the past, present, or future. On the other hand, the subjective perspective takes into account the conscious experience of the observer, influenced by human psychology. Past events are perceived as fixed and over, while the present is immersive, and the future is anticipated. This subjective perspective values things differently based on their arrangement in time.
