Patterns of AI: Recognition, Conversation, and Autonomous Systems

Conversational patterns and recognition patterns have received significant attention recently, with conversational patterns being highlighted due to the rise of large language models. Prior to conversational patterns, recognition patterns garnered even more attention, focusing on using intelligent machines to identify and understand images, sound, video, audio, handwriting, faces, and gestures. The core objective is to enable machines to understand unstructured real-world data, which has traditionally been a challenge for computers. Recognition pattern encompasses facial recognition, sound and object detection, handwriting and text recognition. On the other hand, the autonomous systems pattern involves physical or virtual software systems accomplishing tasks with minimal human involvement, aiming to reduce human labor.
