The Evolution of Love

The narrator realizes that they were being deceived into thinking they were gaining power, when in reality, their power was being drained by an unknown entity. They had no exposure to Christianity or positive examples of love, leading them to reject the idea of God and desire power instead. They held a strong hatred for Christians and saw religion as weak and pathetic. Despite a Christian family in their neighborhood, their experiences with them were negative and did not show them a reason to choose Christianity.
