Apathy is a really common consequence of burnout. Sometimes people who look apathetic are suffering from drama or learned helplessness. If someone looks lazy because they're just apathetic, or they don't care about meeting a particular goal, well then the question becomes why they don't see that goal as important in the first place.
Are you lazy? Social psychologist Devon Price doesn’t think so. In their provocative new book, “Laziness Does Not Exist,” Devon invites us to imagine a world where we stop judging other people for being lazy, stop shaming ourselves for being unproductive, and start realizing that doing less is not a moral failure.
