The Effects of Social Media Jealousy on Relationships
A scale called social media friendships jealousy scale was developed to examine the effects of female and friendship poaching on girls and women. The study found that women were more affected than men by not being tagged in friend's posts or not being invited to outings, leading to increased levels of depression and anxiety. The underlying dynamic is the fear of missing out (FOMO) which greatly impacts girls' mental health.
