The Invisible Gorilla Experiment: The Power of Inattention
In an experiment, participants were asked to count basketball tosses while watching a video. However, most of them didn't notice a gorilla walking through the screen. Another experiment showed that people often fail to notice when a different clerk takes their place while they are talking. These results suggest that we have a tendency to focus on specific details and may miss unexpected events or changes in our environment.
