NOTE

**Feelings Last Less Than 90 Seconds **

Feelings are not followed by a thought, but are a set of sensations occurring in the body. Research suggests that feelings last less than 90 seconds, and often much less. To let feelings pass, one must pause, take a breath, and name the feeling. By just feeling the feeling without feeding it with more thoughts, the energy of the feeling will dissipate from the body in less than 90 seconds. This practice is especially important during times of grief, allowing waves of sadness to pass and finding equanimity in between. Emotional intelligence is the ability to know and have a receptive relationship with one's feelings, preventing them from getting stuck and turning into negative moods like bitterness and resentment.
